A Look Inside Joshua Vides' "Reality to Idea" Exhibition in LA

Making a real-life Acura NSX 1995 look like a black and white sketch.

Streetwear vet Joshua Vides continues to build esteem for making real-life objects appear as simple, black and white sketches. One glance at the fledgling artist’s Instagram account and you will be bombarded by Air Jordan 1s, basketball hoops, street signs, and even porta potties embellished in white paint with black sharpie lines drawn by hand. For Vides’ next illusion, he took over The Seventh Letter Gallery in Los Angeles, California to present his new exhibit titled “Reality to Idea.”

The exhibition spotlights a 1995 Acura NSX parked directly in the middle of the gallery. The cult-favorite vehicle receives the monochromatic phantasm provided by Vides alongside his signature cones and checkered flags mounted on the walls of the space for added panache. “The idea is to highlight the initial sketches of ideas and concepts, bringing them to life. An ode to the napkin sketch and a reminder to not throw your ideas away,” Vides told HYPEBEAST.

Get a closer look at “Reality to Idea” by browsing the slideshow above and drop by The Seventh Letter Gallery to check it out in person. The exhibition will conclude today at 8 p.m. PST.
