Watch JR Discuss How His "Inside Out" Art Project Came to Be

The artist also discusses how he got locals involved.

JR has long been known for his large-scale art installations but his recent project “Inside Out,” which saw fans of the French artist become part of his art. Now he is discussing this work as part of a feature series on Great Big Story’s collaboration with TED called Torchbearers.

The project this time focused on The Dreamers and DACA, aiming to create change through photography and bring awareness to who these individuals were as people. This is familiar territory for JR, as his most recent project, “So Close,” also cast a spotlight on the refugee crisis. You can watch the short documentary about “Inside Out” above and see just how JR went about changing perceptions through his art project.
