Christie’s and Roc Nation Join Hands for “The Book of HOV” Auction

The single-lot auction spotlights a custom piece of memorabilia signed by HOV.

The Brooklyn Museum‘s “The Book of HOV” tribute exhibition to the city’s very own hometown hero JAY-Z saw immense success, doing commendable numbers – hosting over 500,000 visitors and adding over 22,000 new card accounts – as well as extending its run time through December. To keep the momentum going, Christie’s and Roc Nation have teamed up with “The Book of HOV” exhibit to curate a striking single-lot auction.

The online auction features a custom black leather case crafted by Pinel et Pinel and personally signed by HOV himself, which houses 13 of the exhibit’s one-of-a-kind metal library cards, each of which showcase artwork from one of JAY-Z’s solo studio albums. Also included in the sleek case is a metal bookmark as well as a matching commemorative “The Book of HOV” card. Check it out above.

“Every day for the past four months, thousands of new patrons have visited the Central Library to see ‘The Book of HOV’ and be inspired by Jay-Z’s extraordinary journey from Brooklyn to the world stage,” said Linda E. Johnson, Brooklyn Public Library’s President and CEO.

Christie’s Head of Private and Iconic Collection, Elizabeth Seigel, echoes the same gratitude. “The spirit of ‘The Book Of HOV’ is an inspiration for all, emphasizing the importance of supporting vital community institutions. We are honored to collaborate with Roc Nation on this meaningful initiative.”

Bidding on the lot is now open, and will remain open through Tuesday, December 5, and proceeds from the auction will directly support the Brooklyn Public Library. Additionally, the lot will be on display at Christie’s Rockefeller Center galleries beginning on December 1 through the close of the auction.
