Rare van Gogh Painting Expected to Sell for over $35 Million USD

Once owned by Hollywood superstar, Elizabeth Taylor.

Christie’s is set to auction off a rare painting by Vincent van Gogh this Spring as part of its Impressionist and Modern sale.

The artwork titled Vue de l’asile et de la Chapelle de Saint-Rémy was created by the iconic Dutch artist in the last year of his life back in 1890. Hollywood superstar Elizabeth Taylor once owned the painting with her art dealer father Francis Taylor having purchased the painting at auction in 1963 for approximately $130,000 USD. This time around, Christie’s is expecting that the painting will sell for over $35 million USD at the sale. The record price for a work by van Gogh is currently at $82.5 million USD as per Artnet.

Nevertheless, check out the painting above and stay tuned for updates on the sale. In related art news, one lucky eBay user’s $10 USD Jesse James photo could be worth over $2 million USD.
