UPDATE: Banksy's New NYC Rat Piece Has Been Removed

Speculation is running wild.

UPDATE: Banksy’s rat piece within a clock on the corner of 14th Street and 6th Avenue has been removed as of earlier today. It’s unclear whether the building’s owner had anything to do with it and unknown whether it will be sold, donated, etc. Take a look at some Instagram accounts that captured it below.

A new work from Banksy is gathering attention in New York City. As designboom notes, the acclaimed artist’s latest piece is a rat entrenched in a literal race for time. Adorning a clock at 14th Street and Sixth Avenue, the 101 West 14th Street piece is located in an area known for being one of the busiest spots in Manhattan.

Social media users have reacted swiftly to Banksy’s latest, generating a flood of speculation. From Stephen Hawking tributes to political sentiments, the reactions run the gamut. Per usual, there’s plenty of interpretations and an essay’s worth of commentary attached to the work.

A couple months ago, some of Banksy’s works went on display at a new exhibit in Singapore.
