To commemorate the launch of its new Shanghai brick and mortar, Hermès launched “The Hermès Horse” inaugural exhibit. Also coinciding with China’s celebration for the Year of the Horse, this exhibition is said to be located somewhere between “reverie and poetry,” or “an ephemeral museum and a journey through time,” with art pieces from the Émile Hermès Museum. Head of cultural heritage at Hermès, Ménéhould de Bazelaire mentioned “For each opening of one of our stores, a few pieces from the Émile Hermès Collection – which we call the “Émile Hermès Museum” – or from the house’s conservatoire, are selected for display to celebrate the new space. But also to present a past, a tradition, and a know-how that are as relevant today as ever. It’s a way of bringing our reserves to life and sharing them with the public.” The above Philippe Dumas-curated collection also includes ancient Chinese pieces from the collections of the regional Hohhot museum in Mongolia.
