British art enthusiasts Francesca Gavin presents The Book of Hearts, showcasing a collection of hearts interpreted in various forms. Reinvented in a myriad of different styles from different cultures and times, the book explores the meaning of the universal symbol via prehistoric cave drawings and ancient Egyptian sketches to more prominent, pop-art illustrations. “It’s incredible how broadly the heart can be visually played with. It can be whole, paired, cracked, broken, pierced, burning, locked, torn, cute; the perfect metaphor of the gamut of human emotion” says Gavin, an editor at Dazed & Confused, Bazaar and Artsy.
