Sneakers inspire, yes, even more so when the designs are as simplistically original and groundbreaking as Nathan VanHook‘s. As the Senior Footwear Designer of Nike Sportswear, VanHook is responsible for the myriad of popular silhouettes to come out of Beaverton over the past five years, including (but not limited to): the ACG Lunarwood, the Meriwether, the Woven Footscape Chukka, and also notably, the Air Yeezy II. Of course, no design comes from thin air. In fact, any creator knows that beyond popularity or awards, it’s the intensive process of making that renders this whole game worthwhile. To celebrate VanHook’s achievements, and the creative process beyond them, Portland’s Table of Contents gallery is set to host “#ITSAPROCESS” – an aptly-named installation of VanHook’s tools, gadgets and general setup. Our man in the field Brandon Shigeta ventured to ‘Rip City’ on the #HYPEBEASTRoadtrip, stopping at Table of Contents to check out the exhibit. Enjoy the photo set above, and be sure to stop by Table of Contents if in the Portland area.
