Unlike civilizations throughout history that have erected buildings and artificial shelters in natural landscapes, London-based artist Noémie Goudal creates organic scenes within often decaying urban settings. As part of “Haven Her Body Was” — her photographic and mixed-media exploration of the relationships humans have with abandoned spaces, hidden landscapes and shelters of all sorts — the artist’s new installment to the series ushers the viewer into an imaginative world of large-scale displays juxtaposed with the industrial spaces in which they are housed. Each installation recreates nostalgic, serene natural landscapes, creating art-based shelters for both mind and body. Noémie Goudal’s “Haven Her Body Was” exhibition will be held at London’s Edel Assanti from September 13 until October 14.
