German artist Hendrik Beikirch has recently unveiled his latest work in Busan, South Korea.
German artist Hendrik Beikirch has recently unveiled his latest work in Busan, South Korea. Currently Asia’s tallest mural, the artist’s new work depicts an elderly Korean fisherman with the message “Where there is no struggle, there is no strength” and represents the traditional laborers of Korea who have seen the country’s rapid economic expansion pass them by. The commentary of the mural is bolstered by its location, juxtaposed against Haeundae’s monolithic I’Park apartment buildings. The project was led by Seoul-based Public Delivery and is painted on the side of Busan’s Fishing Union building. At a height of 70 meters, Beikirch’s latest project is perhaps his most ambitious to date. If you happen to be in Korea, be sure to stop by Busan to get a glimpse of this inspiring mural.
