Recapping Chad Muska‘s one-day-only exhibition “Deconstructionism,” the event at concept space FLAT425 showcased the latest body of artwork from the veteran professional skateboarder. In the public viewing, the exhibition featured Muska’s new appreciation for textured canvas pieces; incorporating traditional materials with cement, silkscreen cutouts, broken mirror, PVC, five years worth of shredded bills, and other interesting mediums of choice — the resin-heavy artwork served to intensify the gallery space. The 18 mixed media pieces are offered as abstractionism and expressionistic gestures, representing the show’s theme of deconstruction that stems from Muska’s personal experience of ‘breaking and reconstructing.’
