Los Angeles-based artists and illustrators Benjie Escobar and Suedehead are slated to debut their co-curated “Technical Difficulties” exhibition this Friday, March 30, at ARISTOCRATS. While his name may not be as known, Benjie Escobar is perhaps best recognized through his tenure as the Head Designer for Los Angeles streetwear staple, The Hundreds. Relying on his inherent creativity and natural knack for all things illustration, the elaborate works of Escobar are seen emblazoned across the backs of many The Hundreds apparel and lifestyle items. Building his time working for the likes of Black Scale, Dearly Departed, Us Versus Them, and many more, Jose “Suedehead” Lopez finds his stride within the balance of retro and vintage characterizations while applying a level of counterculture relevance to each piece. The SoCal event will include complimentary drinks, a range of custom T-shirt releases, and custom artist products as well as sounds by local DJs.
