  • Accompanying the exhibition is the launch of two limited editions inspired by original works from the show

Lisbon’s Underdogs Gallery will soon launch the first solo exhibition of renowned contemporary artist, Paul Insect. Entitled Broken Vision, the presentation will highlight 22 new and original works that feature Insect’s signature collage-style compositions that blend abstraction and figuration in a flurry of vivid colors.

Insect was a prominent figure in Britain’s 1990s graffiti scene who developed a district visual language of portraits with cut-out eyes that feature heavily-layered visuals comprised of bold shapes and human characteristics reminiscent of caricature. For ‘Broken Vision,’ Insect will display new renditions of his famed masked characters in paintings that “stem from manual methods such as dotwork, referencing photocopies and screen-printing processes, evoking the aesthetics of posters and graphic reproducibility,” the gallery described.

Accompanying the exhibition is the launch of two limited editions inspired by original works from the show. The editions will be available from September 3 exclusively on Underdogs’ website alongside an online viewing room. Broken Vision will officially kick off on September 5 at the address below.
