Johnson Tsang and Avant Arte to Release 'The Moment' Wall Sculpture

Limited to an edition of 250 and available via raffle.

Artworks

Johnson Tsang and Avant Arte have developed a fruitful partnership in recent years, releasing a suite of surrealist ceramic sculptures that feature contorted faces in place of utilitarian objects, from mirrors to planters. The Chinese artist and London studio are returning with a new edition entitled The Moment, a wall-mounted resin sculpture of a white featureless head and two inner faces kissing within.

The artwork is based off an identical porcelain sculpture Tsang created in his Hong Kong workshop, both of which emphasize the possibilities that can happen when one opens themselves to love. “I believe in life,” Tsang said in a statement. “Life is based on love, designed with wisdom, and allows us to grow through experience.”

Tsang’s grotesque, humorous and sometimes endearing artworks stem from his life before art. Having served 13 years in the police force, he continues to reference memories while on duty for some of his more sinister sculptures.

Limited to an edition of 250, The Moment measures 3.6 × 10.6 × 4.9 inches. The artwork comes with an engraved signature, a certificate of authenticity and will be available for $787 USD. Collectors looking to purchase must enter a raffle, which ends on Wednesday, October 9 at 9am ET.
