LEGO's New Superpower Studio Puts Creativity in the Hands of Children

Located at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris.

LEGO Group has unveiled its new Superpower Studios at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris. This new art gallery experience puts children in charge of transforming the space into a hands-on celebration of creativity and connection.

Inspired by new research that reveals the profound benefits of play for families, the immersive installation ignites LEGO’s “Play is Your Superpower” campaign, urging everyone to rediscover the transformative power of play. Additionally, the family-friendly experience comes as new global findings by the LEGO Group reveal that families who play together the most are the happiest. At the same time, a resounding 90% of children agree that play is the best way for them to learn, develop, and express their true selves.

The research, which spans 36 locations with over 61,500 parents and children ages 5-12 also uncovered that 83% of parents see play as a platform for celebrating differences in a fun and positive way and as key to fostering a more inclusive worldview (85%).

Reimagining a space traditionally seen as more adult-centric, Superpower Studios’ immersive art gallery emerges as a vibrant celebration of play and connection in the heart of Paris. Led by global Play Ambassadors, handpicked for their unique creativity and dedication to driving positive change in their communities, their distinctive styles are united through play.

The installation has been spearheaded by Creative Advisor Sarah Andelman, founder of the pioneering Parisian concept store Colette. Inspired by children as the architects of play, acclaimed French artist Aurélia Durand has worked alongside Chinese artist Chen Fenwan and Ghanaian-Canadian artist Ekow Nimako who uses black LEGO bricks to bring Superpower Studios to life.
