Luke Chueh to Present His "Peering Through the Darkness" Exhibition at LA's Corey Helford Gallery

Which explores the complexities of human emotions, relationships and identity.

On Saturday, August 26, Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) in downtown Los Angeles will present a solo exhibition titled “Peering Through the Darkness” that showcases new artworks by Luke Chueh.

Luke Chueh, a Chinese-American contemporary artist, is renowned for his perceptive and thought-provoking commentary on modern society and the human condition. He employs a unique artistic style that combines elements of pop art, minimalism, and surrealism to delve into the intricacies of human emotions, relationships and identity. Chueh frequently utilizes anthropomorphic characters, like bears and rabbits, as symbolic representations of the human experience. These characters are depicted in a wide array of scenarios, ranging from the absurd to the melancholic, encapsulating the full spectrum of human feelings and encounters.

Chueh’s art blends haunting and humorous elements, encouraging viewers to introspect and challenge their perceptions of the world. His artwork confronts weighty and controversial subjects, including loneliness, depression and the quest for meaning, provoking audiences to grapple with their own fears and vulnerabilities. Through his creative expressions, Chueh prompts us to evaluate our role in the world and to contemplate the essence of human existence in its entirety. “Peering Through the Darkness” marks Chueh’s return to CHG for his primary solo exhibition since “Intensive Purposes” in February 2021.

For other art news, the artwork by Henry Taylor has been on display at Kendrick Lamar’s latest festival appearances.
