Javier Calleja Leads Lladró's 'Art Editions' Collaborative Series
Unveiling three wide-eyed figurines to kick off Art Basel Miami.
Spanish porcelain brand Lladró is taking its first steps into the fine art world with its first-ever art collection, Art Editions – a series of limited-edition collaborative releases with big-name and emerging artists. Kicking off the first installment of Art Editions is famed Spanish artist Javier Calleja; in a presentation dubbed “You Choose One,” Calleja has crafted three original wide-eyed designs.
“You Choose You” spans 25 hand-painted designs in “Boy,” “Devil Cat,” and “Angel Cat,” iterations, each of which is complete with glossy glass eyes, evocative of Calleja’s signature Pop Art-inspired style. Lladró’s in-house chemists physically created a custom palette of over 4000 color shades solely for “You Choose You.” Each collectible is hand-signed by Calleja and comes complete with customized packaging corresponding to the individualized figure. “After seven decades revolutionizing the world of porcelain, Art Editions is a milestone in Lladró’s ongoing diversification and an evident example of the brand’s potential for innovation, grounded in the know-how of his team of artisans and the versatility of porcelain as a vehicle for artistic expression,” explained Cristina Egido, Lladró’s Global Marketing Director.
Lladró plans to exclusively unveil the collection on December 7. The full range is available for viewing and purchase at Design Miami, located at the Marquez Art Projects (MAP).
