Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham Reveal Lap Two Drop

Featuring the “Original Sweet 16” Deora II and a replica of Arsham’s personal Porsche 356 Speedster.

Hot Wheels, through Mattel Creations, has revealed the second “Lap” of its four-part collaboration with artist Daniel Arsham, a project two years in the making that sees original Hot Wheels models in the 1:64 scale reimagined in Arsham’s signature future relic aesthetic.

The collaboration kicked off with Lap One, which featured an eroded version of the artist’s Porsche 930 Turbo and a crystalized version of the Rodger Dodger. For those in New York City, there was also a dedicated launch event in October, which included a range of other collectibles as well and opportunities to meet the artist.

As for Lap Two, it introduces two new vehicles to the collaboration, a crystalized and eroded version of the Deora II, notably one of Hot Wheels’ “Original Sweet 16” castings that were first released in 1968. The second vehicle in this Lap is a replica of Arsham’s personal Porsche 356 “Bonsai” Speedster, faithfully recreated down to the welding lines, weathered appearance and denim upholstery.

Fans who find themselves in Miami on December 8, will once again have a chance to meet Arsham and have their cars signed, with more details on accessibility available via Mattel’s official site. Lap Two cars are also set to release December 8 via Mattel’s online shop, with each priced at $70 USD.
