Jason REVOK to Release New Print via Louis Buhl & Co.

The latest work comes from the artist’s “Instrument Exercise” series.

Jason REVOK is set to release a new limited-edition print via Louis Buhl & Co. The upcoming drop runs concurrent to his first museum show which is currently on view at The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD). Born in California and now based in Detroit, REVOK has spent his career crafting meticulous painting tools that he uses to create raw and gestural marks that probe into questions of authorship.

The title of the release, Instr/Ex_frame/drag_2_ultMa/Y/Or/Rd_4/22, embodies the hybridity of his practice and comes from the artist’s “Instrument Exercise” series. To create these works, REVOK used one of his self-made tools to muster a system where he could simultaneously hold and use multiple spray paint cans at once. The resulting mark teeters between machine-like symmetry and jagged flaws that are reflective of the imperfect nature of spray paint and the human hand.

Instr/Ex_frame/drag_2_ultMa/Y/Or/Rd_4/22 is a 13 color screenprint that is limited to an edition of 60. Printed on 160 lb Mohawk Superfine Ultra White Cover paper, the print sizes at 24 x 24-inches and comes signed and numbered by the artist. Join the waitlist as the print releases on January 5 at 12pm ET.
