Triennale Milano Presents '1923: Past Futures' Exhibition

A VR experience through the museum’s 100 year history.

Milan has a storied history within the spheres of art and design. From corner to corner, the city is rich with galleries, museums and creative minds that reflect the best of the old world and the new. As one of Milan’s leading institutions, Triennale has played a big role in showcasing the premier discourse on art and design since the museum was founded in 1923.

To celebrate 100 years, Triennale is currently hosting a new exhibition entitled 1923: Past Futures — a virtual reality (VR) experience through the museum’s archives, where visitors can digitally participate in the protests of 1968, visit the Palazzo dell’Arte as it was originally conceived, enter into the mind of the building’s architect, Giovanni Muzio, and much more.

“The VR experience provides an overview of history, offering visitors a tangible and digital idea of the past,” said Marco Sammicheli, director of Museo del Design Italiano. “This may seem paradoxical, yet in the world of design it’s a major revolution.”

Made in conjunction with VIVE Arts, the show was specially produced by Triennale on the occasion of the 23rd International Exhibition and will be on view until January 8, 2023.
