Burning Man 2019 Has Begun & Photos Are Starting to Surface

Centered around the theme ‘Metamorphoses.’

Running from August 25 to September 2, thousands will make their way to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada for the Burning Man festival. The yearly installment encompasses nine days of art installations, performances, and music.

This year’s theme is ‘Metamorphoses,’ which, as the Burning Man website describes, is “a celebration of change, and an exploration of uncertainty.” The theme stresses the transformative journey of life and the agency individuals and communities have to shape their own futures. Bjarke Ingels, founder of architecture studio Bjarke Ingels Group, shared an Instagram photo of an interactive art installation entitled ‘27 Stones’ by California-born artist Benjamin Langholz.

As the festival demands off-the-grid participation, photos that surface from inside the festival allow the public to get a brief look into Burning Man’s unique experiences. Check out some of the art installations from Burning Man 2019 in the images below.
