Okuda San Miguel's "No Religions in the Sky" Show Features a 'Lady Jesus'

Alongside more artworks that explore the relationship between religion and art.

Okuda San Miguel just launched his only solo show in Spain for 2018 called “No Religions in the Sky” that spotlights a vivid series of new paintings, sculptures, and installations covered with the artist’s signature prismatic motifs and organic forms. For the exhibition, Okuda wanted to shed light on the relationship between art and religion. “For Okuda, the religions in the past and the current social structure have led us to distance ourselves from God, who actually lives within each individual,” said the gallery. “The artist therefore proposes a kind of Okudism, translated into a reflection on our own existence from the admiration for the value of art and its connection with the values of religions.”

Notable pieces in the show include the Lady Jesus mixed-media artwork, the AK47 Flowers enamel on wood painting, and large-scale installation of a skeletal Virgin Mary with a slot machine body.
