The Brooklyn Museum Has a Frida Kahlo Exhibit on the Way

An intimate look at the artist’s personal life.

The Brooklyn Museum has just announced a new exhibition, detailing the life and works of Mexican-artist Frida Kahlo. The show is titled, ‘Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving,’ and is the largest U.S. exhibition in a decade. The show will display much of her possessions and unseen art; including clothes, pre-colonial jewelry, as well as a number of hand-painted corsets and prosthetics used throughout her lifetime. Much of the items have been locked away since her death in 1954, but are now to be displayed and highlight the many interests of Kahlo and her husband, Diego Rivera.

Tickets for the exhibition go on sale December 3 from the Brooklyn Museum website, with member presale tickets available on November 26. The show is a joint effort between the Brooklyn Museum, the Banco de México Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo Museums Trust, and The Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection of 20th Century Mexican Art and The Vergel Foundation.

Be sure to check it out if you’re in the area, and keep up with the latest from HYPEBEAST Arts.
