Graffiti and street artist Vhils joins NOWNESS to present “Incision,” a short video documenting the indigenous village of Araçaí, Brazil, where 90 Guarani people have been displaced by the government from their ancestral lands. In between scenes of the everyday lives of the Guarani people, Vhils provides insight into the thought process and artistic expression behind his artwork, which explores the relationship between creation and destruction. Vhils utilizes art to uplift the forgotten Guarani by carving portraits of the indigenous people onto the buildings and doors of their homes. Enjoy the video above.
