It’s hard to showcase New York City in ways that have not been done before, and award-winning French photographer, Vincent Laforet, may have accomplished that with his breathtaking aerial perspectives of the city. Taken while hanging out of a helicopter door at 7,500 feet, these photos make the vast island of Manhattan seem miniscule. Views of the city like these are rare, likely due to the complex combination of altitude and camera equipment required. Laforet recalls the difficulty in obtaining clearance to fly at the specific height over New York City, with one of his regular pilots refusing to fly at a higher altitude due to safety hazards.
