Jeff Koons’ 'Split-Rocker' Sculpture Has Extended its Display

Jeff Koons‘ striking Split-Rocker sculpture unveiled at New York’s Rockefeller Center back in June. For those who haven’t seen the 37-foot-tall sculpture in all its glory can now swing by the public art exhibition as it will remain on view through till Thursday, September 18. Built from Koons’ fascination with dichotomy, the Split-Rocker is made up of two toy rockers, a pony belonging to his son and a dinosaur. Involving classic topiary work, the art piece is both technical and innovative, and is inspired by floral sculptures found in vernacular festivals. The rocker is hollow in the middle with its steel infrastructure hidden from sight, while living flowers and plants decorate its exterior. Presented by Gagosian Gallery in conjunction with Public Art Fund and Tishman Speyer, the Split-Rocker is a free exhibition and a spectacle definitely worth your while.
