Underlined by its collaboration with DQM, Chocolate Skateboards took to New York last weekend to celebrate its 20th anniversary with an art show. The show – organized by a variety of sponsors including Mountain Dew’s Green Label – showcased some of the iconic board art from the company’s revered canon. Much of the brand’s unique design language and style is rooted in the aesthetics of one Evan Hecox, who alongside Andy Jenkins and the Crailtap family, has pushed Chocolate’s signature style to ‘legendary’ status. Green Label interviewed Jenkins, Sam Smyth, Gino Iannucci and inaugural rider Chico Brenes in the days leading up to the show, here presenting an oral history of the brand from those who built it.
