Chinese-born artist DALeast has installed a new mural in Dunedin, New Zealand. Sponsored by the Dunedin Mural Project, DALeast’s latest work is titled, “Defoliation,” and took four days to complete. The mural depicts the swooping wings of the Haast’s Eagle, a now extinct predatorial bird, native to South New Zealand. DALeast purposefully incorporates man-made elements into the construction of the bird, cleverly indicating man’s responsibility for the extinction of what was once the largest eagle on earth.
