MOOK Shanghai recently invited Yasumasa “YONE” Yonehara to produce a special edition photo book for the popular night club based on his signature YONE’S GIRLS series. The finished product – featuring an array of young girls and models set in the colorful surroundings of the Chinese metropolis – was then presented to the first 100 guests on June 22. Following the initial shoot, YONE noted how much Shanghai had changed since he first started taking photographs in the country (he completes the majority of his work in Japan), citing the evolutions in culture and the way in which young Shanghai girls have created their own aesthetic with both makeup and dress.
