From filmmakers Faythe Levine and Sam Macon comes Sign Painters, a documentary on the dying art of sign painting and those looking to bring it back to life. Starting in 2010, the directors began capturing the artists and their craft from throughout the country, with more than two dozen artists featured. The resulting documentary shows how sign painting blossomed until the advent of cheap, manufactured lettering and inkjet printers, and how the art form is currently experiencing a renaissance of sorts. Full of unique characters and even more unique works, this documentary shines a light on a barely talked-about but interesting little trade.
