After a widely publicized takeover of Jonathan LeVine’s booth at Miami Art Basel, French artist Invader took to the streets of his native Paris for the latest installment of his tiled work. Invader, who sources much inspiration from ’70s and ’80s pop culture phenomenon, this time created a tiled impression of David H. DePatie and Friz Freleng’s animated Pink Panther. The cartoon, which is based on an eponymous French film character, is depicted in a tiled mosaic here. The pixilated composition of the piece subtly reminds the viewer of the antique nature of the Pink Panther itself, while its placement could be interpreted as commentary on a detective’s role. In any regard, Invader’s work continues to entertain in his latest installation.
