Having previously featured the likes of Mark Landis, Oliver “Power” Grant, David LaChapelle & Reiner Opoku, Aaron Rose, Steve Aoki, Rick Genest and more, the latest installment of THE AVANT/GARDE DIARIES highlights collage artist Mark Wagner. Aptly entitled “Money is Material,” the three and a half-minute piece showcases Wagner’s signature currency collages – artwork that sees Wagner engaging in the taboo subject of currency destruction in order to craft something that questions the worth of taking something at face value. Sticking to themes close to the currency – the division of wealth, American identity, capitalism, and the American dream – allows Wagner’s pieces to be infinitely more thought provoking than if they were constructed from an entirely different publication.
