The highly anticipated exhibition from renowned street artist Shepard Fairey recently opened at the Perry Rubenstein gallery. More than just a collection of artwork though, “Americana” is also a collaborations of sorts between Fairey and legendary musician Neil Young — the latter of whom provided Fairey inspiration through his classic lyrics and the tunes that accompany them. Some of the works are lyric-based, while others are based off of Fairey’s visual interpretation of certain songs like “Oh Susannah,” “This Land is Your Land,” and even “Clementine” from Young’s forthcoming album Crazy Horse; however all of them build upon certain iconic images that resonate within the American cultural conscience. This exclusive exhibition will only be showing until September 7, so you only have a few short weeks to hurry over to Perry Rubenstein and check it out. You can find the gallery on North Highland Drive in Los Angeles, California.
