Inspirational Ai Weiwei's Life and Influence Presented In 'Never Sorry'

One of 2012 Sundance Film Festival’s official selections, this documentary piece by Alison Klayman

One of 2012 Sundance Film Festival’s official selections, this documentary piece by Alison Klayman about China’s most renowned artist slash activist politely invites your attention with a new trailer. Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry tells the invigorating tale of one artist’s visionary quest for freedom of expression and his persistent struggle for human rights within his own nation. It also provides insight into the mind and workings of a Chinese revolutionary, inevitably pointing to the key powers of art and creativity for the liberation of suppressed society. The film will reach theaters July 27, shortly after Ai Weiwei’s scheduled official release from government-imposed house arrest. To celebrate his impending freedom on June 22 and return to the society which he has courageously fought for, a special social media initiative has been launched. Inspired by Ai’s famously rude photographs from the exhibition “Fuck Off,” this initiative invites anyone to submit photos of themselves raising the middle finger to various social “injustices” — large and small, construed or otherwise. All submitted photos will then be presented to Ai Weiwei online in a collage on June 22. Submit your angry-fingered photo via Facebook, or tweet it with the tag “@AWWNeverSorry #RaiseYourFinger.”
