Kehinde Wiley’s new self-entitled book is set to release on March 6, 2012. This volume serves to detail all of Wiley’s work, as an in-depth understanding of his commentary on the nature of race and power in our society. Wiley has become known for his ironic “reversal” portrayals of contemporary African-Americans in heroic poses, inspired by historic portraits and photos of the past. Since Wiley’s earliest shows in 2011, he has become one of the most important artists of our time, making his mark on the walls of major museums as well as the minds of the hip-hop generation. Kehinde Wiley offers contributions from Robert Hobbs, Thelma Golden, Sarah Lewis, Peter Halley, and of course, Kehinde Wiley. The book is now available for pre-order.
