Reimagining the “Land of Wano” arc through large-scale installations.
Summary
- The experience marks 25 years ‘One Piece’ first aired in Japan
- The exhibition encompasses 11 rooms and runs until November 30 in Mercer Labs’ NYC location
Toei Animation and Mercer Labs have joined forces for “ONE PIECE x MERCER LABS”, an immersive exhibition celebrating Eiichiro Oda’s legendary anime series. Open now at Mercer Labs, the experience marks over 25 years since One Piece first aired in Japan. Today, the franchise spans 15 feature films, countless games and one of the most devoted fanbases in anime history.
The exhibition encompasses 11 rooms, reimagining the “Land of Wano” arc through large-scale installations of sound, light and motion. Visitors enter through the “Window Room,” where a circular ceiling screen revisits the Straw Hat Crew’s voyage to the samurai-filled nation. The “Infinite Room” surrounds guests in mirrored horizons of sea and sky, featuring the Thousand Sunny ship suspended within the space. In the “Dragon Room,” hundreds of LED neurons form a dynamic light sculpture depicting the battle between Zoro and King, while the “Cave Room,” blanketed in pink hydrangea, portrays Momonosuke’s dragon transformation in vivid, dreamlike color.
“As a museum blending art and technology, we wanted to bring ONE PIECE’s imagination to life in new dimensions,” said Mercer Labs co-founder Roy Nachum. Alongside the installation, Nachum debuts a new oil painting of Luffy among cherry blossoms, fusing his signature gold crown motif with the anime’s spirit.
“ONE PIECE x MERCER LABS” runs from October 9 to November 30.
