VILLAZAN recently opened Finding Fame and Storytelling, a compelling exhibition featuring the photographic works of American artists Ricky Powell and Paul Solberg. Curated by Tania Fer, the exhibition showcases a diverse selection of photographs spanning the careers of both artists.

Finding Fame and Storytelling delves into the realms of celebrity, beauty, and narrative through the distinct lenses of Powell and Solberg. Powell’s photographs offer a captivating glimpse into the vibrant tapestry of downtown Manhattan, capturing iconic figures in candid moments against the backdrop of the city’s streets. Through Powell’s lens, viewers are transported into a world where high-profile personalities reveal their humanity amidst the hustle and bustle of New York. In contrast, Solberg’s intimate studies of the male form explore beauty and introspection, inviting viewers to contemplate the interplay of light and shadow.

Powell’s images capture decisive moments, such as Warhol and Basquiat strolling through SoHo, while Solberg’s compositions evoke a sense of freedom and ambiguity. Despite their divergent approaches, both artists demonstrate a profound mastery of their craft, freezing moments in time that resonate with emotion.

Finding Fame and Storytelling is on view until March 16.
