Inside Art Central Hong Kong 2024

Spotling a myriad of distinguished talents as well as emering artists.

Returning to Hong Kong’s iconic Central Harbourfront space, Art Central has officially opened its doors yesterday to its ninth edition. The art fair, which is Hong Kong’s truly own, has always been committed to showcasing art from a myriad of talents across different continents. Specifically, Art Central and its Lead Partner, UOB also see it as their mission to foster and spotlight emerging talents.

A total of 98 galleries are exhibiting in this year’s Art Central, with 11 of them being relatively young galleries that have only been founded within the last five years. Artworks from over 500 artists are also featured, among the list, six up-and-coming talents are making their debuts. These artists are spotlighted under Neo, a new gallery sector set up by Art Central’s 2024 Curatorial Director, Enoch Cheng.

From paintings, sculptures to performance art, some of the highlights from Art Central 2024 include local artist Ho Sin Tung’s Shadow Boxing, Prague-based Rony Plesl‘s glass sculptures, Nigel Howlett’s surrealist yet futuristic figurative oil paintings and Wataru Yamakami’s colossal two-sided painting World of the world – Sequence of presence and absence. Sunayama Norico’s A Sultry World, a renowned performance art piece featuring a giant red dress also makes its Hong Kong debut.

Check out some of the exhibited artworks in the gallery above. From now until March 31, Art Central is open to the public, with tickets available to purchase online or at the door. For more information, visit the event’s official website.
