  • Hypeart and Bonhams are partnering to present the “Under the Same Sky” exhibition at Frieze LA 2026
  •

  • The curated collection highlights Postwar West Coast art that blends internal emotions with the outside world

As the global art world gathers on the West Coast for Frieze Los Angeles next week, Hypeart is proud to announce the next chapter of our ongoing curatorial partnership with Bonhams. Co-curated by Hypeart’s Erin Ikeuchi and Keith Estiler, a special presentation titled Under the Same Sky will be featured within Bonhams’ Made in California and Beyond exhibition and auction.

The curation explores the rich legacy and energy of Postwar West Coast art. It captures a unique era when artists were responding to shifting social realities and experimenting with unconventional materials. Rather than separating their internal emotions from the changing world around them, these creators allowed the two spaces to overlap.

Hypeart’s Under the Same Sky sets up a compelling dialogue across two distinct moods. The first half of the collection focuses on internal states as places of personal reflection and play. Visitors can expect to see energetic boxing sketches by Ernie Barnes, the sculptural mastery of Isamu Noguchi and clever visual games from Ed Moses. In contrast, the second half of the presentation opens up with a more explosive and expansive energy. Works by contemporary heavyweights like Joe Goode, Julian Schnabel and Roy De Forest emphasize rugged materiality and physical movement.

For those in town, the Made in California and Beyond preview will be open to the public in Los Angeles from February 24 to March 1, 2026. Stay tuned for more details.
