Eike König Provides an ‘INTERIM SOLUTION’ to the Concerns of the Day at HVW8 Gallery

The German artist’s first solo exhibition in Berlin.

German artist and designer Eike König is showcasing his first solo exhibition in Berlin through a new body of work at HVW8 Gallery. INTERIM SOLUTION was devised as a way for König to investigate the throes of culture by employing tactful use of language, overlaid with contemporary subjects that deal with concepts of the present.

The title of the show comments on how many solutions are merely temporal and reflects the varying approaches the artist employed to tackle the concerns of the day. In particular, König tapped ChatGPT to meditate on the theme at hand: “In a world marked by uncertainty, the notion of an interim solution resonates deeply with our collective experiences. It represents a temporary response to pressing challenges, a bridge between the present and the future, and an opportunity for growth and resilience,” wrote the AI tool.

Playing in line with past works, such as his earlier LISA print release, König is showcasing a series of new large-scale paintings that pit bold type and slogans with striking imagery that is often sourced from various pop cultural shows, such as Sesame Street and The Simpsons, amongst others.

The exhibition will be on view at HVW8’s Berlin outpost until July 15.

Elsewhere, Andy Warhol’s “Silver Screen” explores the power and perils of fame.
