Axel Morin Explores the "Urban Poetry" of iPhone Photography in ‘GSM 2015-2022’

A new solo exhibition at Paris’ 3537.

French photographer and filmmaker Axel Morin is set to unveil a new solo exhibition of work at Paris’ 3537. Globally recognized for art directing shoots for some of fashion’s biggest labels, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Hermès and Valentino being some of the many, his approach straddles the line between fashion and fine art, imparting a unique eye to light, time and space.

Entitled GSM 2015-2022, the collection of images and videos were shot entirely on his iPhone — a testament to the power and accessibility of the device and its impact on a new generation of photographers and filmmakers. “GSM is an urban journey, through which I wanted to share the energy and the emotions of everyday life movements and images which the iPhone can seize,” Morin explained in a statement.

Produced in collaboration with co-founder of Miraval Studios, Damien Quintard, the exhibition will also feature a custom spatial soundtrack to complement the work on view and will be available exclusively on Apple Music from March 3. Additionally, Morin will release a 120 page catalog on the work, published by Damiani, which explores the “urban poetry” created through iPhone imagery.

GSM 2015-2022 will go on view from March 3 to 10 at 3537 in Paris’ Le Marais district.
