Vik Muniz’s Work Will Be Displayed As “A Brief History of Art” at Ben Brown Fine Arts Gallery

Spanning 20 years of the artist’s conceptual pieces.

Ben Brown Fine Arts Gallery will present the works of Vik Muniz in a special exhibition titled “Vik Muniz: A Brief History of Art.”

The one-month exhibition will encompass a wide display of the New York-and-Brazil-based artist’s conceptual work that spans 20 years, and will be spread across Ben Brown’s flagship Lonodn gallery and its 80 Grosvenor Street location. Muniz’s use of unconventional materials such as scrap metal, caviar, dust, magazine shreds and diamonds, will be showcased via his photographic scale process that documents, alters and reconstructs imagery.

Works of Muniz’s art will include his 2004 “Roses, after Fantin Latour,” his 2011 “The Sower, after Van Gogh,” his 2016 “Metachrome (Flowers, after Odilon Redon I)” and his 2019 “House with Drying Laundry, after Egon Schiele (Repro)” piece.

In addition to being the subject of the Oscar-nominated documentary Waste Land, Muniz has also represented the Brazilian Pavilion at the 49th Venice Biennale, and was a Creative Director for the 2016 Rio Paralympics Opening Ceremony.

The Muniz art exhibit will run from February 1-March 15, with ticket information available on the Ben Brown Fine Arts website.

In other art news, Rei Nakanishi recently presented “Tree of Life” at the Diesel Art Gallery.
