After spotlighting Virgil Abloh’s notable quotes in a book, No More Rulers returns with the latest installment of its -ISMs series made in partnership with Princeton University Press. Entitled Arsham-isms, the new tome features a collection of intimate statements by Daniel Arsham revolving around various topics such as art, architecture, film, design, pop culture, the art world, and his successes as a globally recognized artist.
Culled from a handful of interviews and other sources, the book casts a light on Arsham’s prolific studio practice as an artist as well as a creator in other fields such as architecture which he lends his talent in numerous design projects under his co-founded firm, Snarkitecture.
Arsham is recognized for his contemporary art approach that challenges the notion of time and archaeology through cast objects featuring everyday items. “In his distinctive style, he takes ancient art works and objects from twentieth-century pop culture and casts sculptures of them in geological materials such as quartz or volcanic ash, colliding past, present, and future in haunted yet playful visions that prompt viewers to question their everyday surroundings,” as per a description.
