Thomas Danthony Portrays "Waterfalls" in Meditative Series of Paper Collages

“A series about free flowing water, shaped by the land.”

French graphic artist Thomas Danthony will soon launch an online exhibition entitled “Waterfalls.” Inspired by waterfalls, the virtual presentation features Danthony’s new series of paper collages depicting the diverse beauty of the natural landform. The artist is especially enamored by the verticality of waterfalls and their “constant motion,” as per a statement. He began working on the project a few months before the COVID-19 outbreak in his London studio.

“A waterfall is never the same and I figured the best way to capture them was to use hand movements as a way to create flow, aiming to find beauty in surprise. The result is this meditative series of collage on paper, in which water inevitably finds its way creating ever changing wonders,” expressed Danthony.

Accompanying the series is an audio component implemented in the exhibition’s dedicated website that streams the relaxing sounds of waterfalls. Beyond paper collages, Danthony’s practice also consists of illustration, fine art, and design. He has exhibited his work in shows across the world including London, Paris, Berlin, Seoul, New York, Los Angeles.
