Blood Orange's Dev Hynes, Gia Coppola & More Take Part in Literature-Focused Exhibit

Entitled “Thoughts Become Words, Words Become Images.”

LA’s HVW8 Gallery is set to launch a group exhibition entitled “Thoughts Become Words, Words Become Images” that focuses on literature as an art form. Curated by Anaïs Ngbanzo, the sprawling presentation will display works by a diverse range of artists. Participants include Dev Hynes of Blood Orange, director and photographer Gia Coppola, photographer Amanda Charchian, musician and filmmaker Kelsey Lu, painter Cassi Namoda, and photographer Lily Gavin. All of the pieces in the show center upon books such as Joseph Conrad’s 1915 novel ‘Victory,’ Patrick Süskind’s 1985 masterpiece ‘Perfume: The Story of a Murderer,’ and Essex Hemphill’s poetry.

“Stressing the freedom of a multiplicity of voices and viewpoints, each artist had carte blanche to choose a book to develop a story. The selected writers might be from Germany, Poland, or America, but they all have something in common: they evoke our common humanity in narratives with which we can identify, even though their lives may be remote from our own. They negotiate the freedom of interpretation which leads us today to these pieces of art,” said the gallery in a statement.

In other art stories, Q-Tip will showcase his personal art collection at Bonhams New York.
