13,000 Strands of Colorful Yarn Dangle for Artist HOT TEA's Latest Installation
Located inside the Mall of America.
Eric Rieger aka HOT TEA has garnered acclaim for his non-destructive street installations made of colorful yarn, spray paint, and stencils. The Minnesota-based artist has recently completed a new installation inside the Mall of America in Bloomington and it may be his largest one yet. Dubbed HOT LUNCH, the artist suspended approximately 13,000 strands of vibrant threads that dangle in the mall’s main atrium. Each piece of yarn spans 60 feet and the installation itself weighs a whopping 721 pounds.
“HOT LUNCH is not only eye catching, but also meaningful. The work’s title alludes to the artist’s memories of personal hardships he experienced during high school lunch periods,” said designboom. Take a look at the process by watching the video above.
