Artist Anthony Lister Offers a Bold and Blunt Mission Statement in 'Our Side of the Fence'

“I truly believe that graffiti is the final frontier of true artistic integrity.”

Australian modern artist Anthony Lister is truly obsessed with his craft. To quote the artist himself: ”I truly believe that graffiti is the final frontier of true artistic integrity.”

“Our Side of the Fence” is a short, soul-baring film and a concise declaration of Lister’s mission statement: that art and creative expression can help us reclaim public space, be it inside of an art gallery or scrawled on the side of a building. Lister’s public interventionist works challenge the audience’s preconceived notions and the divisions between street and high art. ”I believe in free expression,” maintains Lister, “a fence is a fence and if it’s on my side then I should have the right as a citizen who lives on that side to beautify it.”
