Dig Into the Relationship Between Marvel's Black Panther & Ground Breaking Author Ta-Nehisi Coates

A big responsibility for the writer with much power.

As the Marvel Universe preps for the highly anticipated release of Captain America: Civil War, many are already thinking about possible films down the line that may star Cap and Iron Man’s helpful hands. As a result, the Black Panther has been tapped for a few extended projects — not only limited to the big screen, but in comics, too. In addition to Black Panther, aka T’Challa — soon having a film directed by Creed‘s own Ryan Coogler — highly popular author Ta-Nehisi Coates has recently been called upon to pen the words of Black Panther’s latest comic book series.

Widely known to the literary world as the soul behind moving pieces such as Between the World and Me, Coates enters Marvel’s fantasy world more than well-prepared to tell T’Challa’s story in his own way, filled with power, motivation, and a look inside the beauty of the struggle.

Check out the video above as Coates expresses his feelings about taking on Black Panther’s latest comic series, as well as his relationship to the character of T’Challa during his own upbringing.
