Beethoven Is Getting the D*Face Treatment

D*Face subverts an image of the German composer.

Back in 2014, Nike and the Black Mamba paid homage to Ludwig van Beethoven with a special edition of the Kobe 9 Elite Low as a nod to the German composer and pianist’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 — better known as the “Ninth Symphony” (hence the Kobe 9) or “The Choral.” Now graffiti artist D*Face is dropping his own tribute of sorts to Beethoven, teaming up with Medicom Toy to introduce a vinyl bust depicting the composer. Naturally, this isn’t your average bust, however, as D*Face’s signature temple wings — and a protruding tongue — add some goofy subversion to the image.

Look for the piece to drop in limited quantities in June for around $400 USD at select Medicom stockists.
