Rare Sea Creature Photography by Matty Smith
Matty Smith’s “Over/Under” photo series captures ocean life above and below sea level.

Australian photographer Matty Smith‘s “Over/Under” photo series explores a variety of underwater sea life in their natural habitats, and takes its name from the series’ unique dual perspective of above and below sea level. Jellyfish, gators, sharks, and oceanic plant life are captured in their underwater habitats with vibrant coral reefs below and blue skies and birds above. As a passionate ocean, wildlife and landscape photographer, Smith embarked on numerous snorkeling expeditions to scout the locations for the series, and used a strobe light to illuminate the bottom half of his photos to highlight both underwater and over-water settings.
